I have lost the "right" to laugh
naked in the sun
to feel free and pretty
walking down the street

even naked alone
I feel they are watching me
HUNGRY EYES
Animals

I am the prey
they see only the prize
HUNGRY EYES
stalking me at night

why women feel the need to hide

HUNGRY EYES
devouring me for lunch
only wanting more
I am only a steak
for the wolf
LAUGHING EYES

that precedes me
making room for something PROFOUND
There is a KNOWLEDGE
found in silence that sets me FREE
to follow QUIET
to take it over
to announce that NOW is the time

There is that SILENCE
found within
There is a SILENCE
finally and at last
Hold on to that SILENCE
while walking thru chaos
then FLYING set FREE

We ALL Fade

some whimpering alone
behind closed doors
some screaming
losing our minds
forgetting who we are

some go quickly overnight
not a sound
part of a dream

some of us are here
for mysterious reasons
and leave messages
for our cats to read
closed paws

canvasses
become scratching posts

will we ever know why
and what
will become of us
after we are gone
-----------------------------------

I want my ashes
scattered
amongst
the young
rebellious minds

fertile for the new
open for the old

re-seeded
strong trees
emerge
